The Book Jumper

Image
The Book Jumper By Mechthild Gläser I opened the book and laid it across my face, the paper slid smoothly over my cheeks and along the bridge of my nose until it covered my eyes. The letters were far too close up to read. They swam before my eyes, melting into an inky whirlpool. They swirled around each other; they changed shape. Words flexed and twisted apart to form bushes and foliage. And then they came pattering down like raindrops: a shower of words raining down on me. So I finished another book! This reading speed…is really terrifying me. Should I kept reading so fast? But…if I don’t, how am I going to manage my TBR list? But…I want to write so much! I haven’t return to write my book yet!!!! Now…I know, you’re here to read The Book Jumper’s review. To be honest, I’ve a really really high expectation for this book. I think jumping into books is a rather genius idea, especially having adventures with the book characters. And yet…after reading this book…I’m confused. Amy Lennox doesn&…

Traitor to the Thorne

Rebel by chance. Traitor by choice. Damn it!!!! This book is so good!!!! This is so perfect that is beyond my imagination!!!!!!! I’ve seen bad reviews of this sequel to my beloved Rebel of the Sands…and nothing I feared happened!!!! Oh well…it wasn’t that horrible…it still got what it takes to be Rebel of the Sand’s sequel. So I’m satisfied. But after reading it…no, no no no no!!!! How am I going to wait until next year??? I need the last book!!! Please? I need the ARC now. I’m dying…the cliffhanger. If anything happened to my beloved…I’ll definitely battle with you. Gunslinger Amani al'Hiza fled her dead-end hometown on the back of a mythical horse with the mysterious foreigner Jin, seeking only her own freedom. Now she’s fighting to liberate the entire desert nation of Miraji from a bloodthirsty sultan who slew his own father to capture the throne. When Amani finds herself thrust into the epicenter of the regime—the Sultan’s palace—she’s deter…

Champion: At Fire’s End

I don’t get it. I really don’t get it. What am I reading?

I was so excited to read a new book about Greek Myths…you know how much I love a good mythology story. But then…I don’t really understand what the book is about…and I can’t feel connected to the characters. The only two characters I love died in the end…which I don’t know why and I can’t imagine what the sequel will be.
Although among my ARC reading process…I did read some good books, and some…not that good. 2.5 stars. This book was the most disappointed of them all.

Seventeen-year-old best friends, April and Kyle, are thrown into the final battle of the Titan and Olympian war. Locked into an endless struggle, the Immortals have finally reached a solution - bestow mortal Champions with control over the elements to wage their final campaign. Bestowed with control over fire and water, April and Kyle were raised by Immortals with a single purpose - win the war. After finally uncovering the …

The Darker Shade of Sorcery
By William Collins

After reading so many negative reviews about this book…I almost give up on reading it. However, surprisingly, The Darker Shade of Sorcery isn’t that bad. Moreover, it’s sort of good in some way. So? I’m glad that I didn’t abandon it although I receive this book from the author. And I must apologize for taking it so long without giving a review…I’m kind of busy…and…I don’t particularly like to read e-book. So, I printed it out.

The lonely and grieving Evan Umbra is the newest Venator to enter Veneseron, the school for demon hunters.
A Venator is a wizard, a spy and a demon hunter rolled into one. They’re taught how to wield their sorcery and enchanted weaponry by orcs, elfpires and aliens alike.
Their missions range from battling monsters and saving countless lives in the multiple worlds, to the more peculiar, like wrangling killer unicorns and calming down drunken yetis. In their free time Venators enjoy goblin soap-operas and underwater bub…

Serafina and the Splinted Heart (Serafina and the Black Cloak Series 3)

Serafina and the Splinted Heart

First thing first…it’s still a good book.
But
Here comes the big BUT. I’ll leave that to the spoiler. So, don’t say I didn’t warn you, since you’ve probably seen tons of great review about this book, most of them five stars. And…the rate is probably driven down by me… The review after the introduction of this book won’t be too…highly praise. Now…as I said, it’s still a good book and worth reading, and I’d still recommend it to all middle-grade students who love this kind of reading genre. The story has a great positive effect and the characters’ improvement is really great. Besides that, it contains several great problems with all face in life and gives wise suggestion. Those things are all great, and I honestly love it with all my heart. I enjoy Serafina’s journey throughout the book, as well as Braedon’s. They are a great team and great friend to each other. As well as Wasya. Well…there is another person which might be surprise to you as …

Serafina and the Twisted Staff (Serafina and the Black Cloak Series 2)

Image
Serafina and the Twisted Staff By Robert Beatty So…at the second day of my summer vocation, I devoured my second ARC. Perfect! I can see how I’m going to spend my entire summer vocation. I’ll pass my whole summer like that. Yeah!!!!! Now…Serafina and the Twisted Staff? Robert Beatty has done it again! This book is even better than the first one. I love book series that are getting better!!! There shouldn’t be something that called “second book slump!” I enjoy every moment of this book this time and can find nothing to complain…well…only a little? But…if Serafina and the Black Cloak is 3.5 stars (I originally rate 3.8), Serafina and the Twisted Staff will be 3.9. Our Character Isn’t Defined By The Battles We Win Or Lose, But By the Battles We Dare To Fight. Serafina has defeated the Black Cloak, but new dangers await. Now that the people of the Biltmore House know of her existence, she must fit in the high society of its elegant and strange customs. But Serafina feels that she does not be…

Never go into the deep parts of the forest, for there are many dangers there, and they will ensnare your soul. Congratulations to me!!!! My summer vacation has come!!!! Yeah!!!! Free to read until my heart content!!!!! And you know what the other exciting thing to announce is? I receive my first and ever ARC paper back copies!!!! OMG, when I receive the email I was totally panic…it’s impossible!!!
But then…after I replied…they said yes!!!!! What’s better, the agent of Serafina and the Splinter Heart agreed to send me the first two copies as well, which I’ve longed to read since it was released!!!!! How can I even survive the excitement???? I still can’t believe this kind of luck happened to me!!!! And I received the bookish mail so fast!!! So of course, in order to reply the kindness, how can I do other thing than read this series as soon as I return home? I devoured it within three hours…so now my eyes… Serafina has never had a reason to dis…

The Historian

The Historian
By Elizabeth Kostova

“My dear and unfortunate successor,” OMG…after an entire semester…I finally finish this enormous book. I know, wait a sec, I know I promise you a book club post. Not a, but a lot. I’ll try to organize them all during my up-coming summer vacation. And try to translate all those words into English…if I still remember them all. I haven’t read a nice, long historical fiction for so long! You might not know, or forget…but besides fantasy, historical fiction is my second fav type of genre. They’re just so magnificent, don’t you think?
I love how every tiny details are weaved together and those foreign words and history. It makes me want to become a historian myself. Really, a great historical fiction should have the ability to drive you in like this. The strange thing is, although I don’t particularly like detective novels, I can’t stand all the murders. But I really love the mystery inside historical fiction, although they sometime involved with death as we…
