Dark Frost (Mythos Academy 3)

Dark Frost
By Jennifer Estep
If I’m right, Gwen had a horrible day before school…her miserable life. We’re here to talk about her unfortunate life again. (But we love it…) This time, Gwen was truly a heroine! She no longer need the help of others in the sword fight, with her improving skill and the annoying sword, she can finally defeat reapers on her own. (Logan saved her every time when she was in trouble in the first book; Gwen “borrowed” Logan’s memory to defense herself in the second…technically, “borrowed” doesn’t mean she defeated by herself.)
I've seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I'm supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I'm just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me--again.
Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects--and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I'm also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me? It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can't use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me--and I'm in for the fight of my life.
A hidden dagger! Let’s find something in this book. But instead of the dagger, she also needed to find a golden ring which belongs to a shy girl, Vivian. (I know, she has the same name with me… that doesn’t mean I’ll like her for that.) Despite the chance of earning some money, Gwen’s life had become so bad after the attack in the library. (Why doesn’t any of the reapers show respect to those book? They’re vulnerable! And the weapons!!!) Logan was angry with her about the secret she found, Daphne was angry that her magic turns out differently as she had expected… yes miserable life, but really, she had stopped complaining that much since this book. (Daphne was actually the one who wasn’t satisfied with her life now…even with a wonderful boyfriend…just kidding.) Gwen’s character has become more likable compared to the previous books. She was a fast learner, she was brave (just with a lot of complain), and she learned to accept who she was and fulfilled the duty. (Even reluctant) This book gives us a highlight at the last part of the book, a really WoW. So even the process of finding the dagger may be a little boring (Oh! When she mean she can’t use her magic to find it, she really can’t. But she found out how at last.) the ending is remarkable and sad… (I almost cry for the ending…or do I actually cry? I can’t remember.) Dark Forest is as good as the other books from this series, and with Gwen’s improving, the plots are getting more exciting. Go and read it now! What are you waiting for? You should trust my review! (Although I have a rather remarkable taste…and some of you may not agree…but give every book a try! It’ll be worthy of it.)
